I’ve got much love for the 2009 reboot of “Melrose Place”. Even though I’m apparently in the minority (it got canned after one season), it still made for great TV.

And the soundtrack was no small part of its success.

See, MP was a show that understood what it was – great looking actors, elegant locations, flashy everything…pull the dialogue and you still had footage that was beautiful to look at.

Which is why they included wall-to-wall singles in each episode. And the promo video above laid that plan for all to see – look at how each character has a subtly-varied version of the overarching song. That’s self-awareness if I’ve ever seen it.

So enjoy the video – “Melrose Place” maybe dead…but they left a great looking corpse.
